Events of Sunday 111107 Augusta Maine

Didn't get outside much. Even though it was a beautiful day. It's ashame when that happens. Drank coffee.

Augusta Maine Airport: Went by the airport. Residents are flying back from weekends elsewhere.
St. Elsewhere, Maine.

The Future of Food: I watched 'The Future of Food.' It's basically 1) we modify foods genetically using viruses and bactirias, 2) We use chemicals harmful to humans, 3) we eat that food, 4) that is bad for us.
Power to the local farmers. Power to the people. Organic out (as in end communique).

If more band kids were studzinskis, less of them would get picked on by the football team. (Haha, good one self.)

Geno's Rock Club: I went to see the Pubcrawlers at Geno's Rock Club.

Geno's Rock Club: The Pubcrawlers were a great punk show to see. They had more instruments than I've ever seen in a single band. (Except the Boston Modern Orchestra Project.)

Geno's Rock Club: Foosball.

Geno's Rock Club: Gino's. The end of a perfect day that seemingly began in Heaven with the churches and Boston Modern Orchestra Project around Bowdoin College, and ended w/ the Pubcrawlers at Geno's.

btw Greene and Augusta Maine

Ray from Poland Maine, land of Poland Springs, is putting new windows in my apartment in Augusta Maine. The improvement might lower the heating bill for my landlords.

Winthrop is a cool little town east on Route 202 out of Augusta. Maine is filled with cool little towns. Augusta Maine is well-located for gas-burners, day trips, road trips, short ventures, jaunts, romps, and 4x2-ing.

An Agricultural Building Many Maine buildings can be described as agricultural. Many Maine houses are connected directly to their sheds and barns. The worst condition of this I've seen, which it appears has long since been empty of its flock, was a farm house connected directly to a long chicken barn.
I wonder what living with that much nitrogen would do to a person?

Maine Churche: New England Camera fodder.

A Cross Section of Maineland soil.

Dale Johnson an independent film producer showed his film 'Venture to Alaska' at the Sawyer Foundation on Sawyer Road in Greene Maine.

Greene Roof: Greene Maine.

Maine Boats: on land in winter.

Churche: Winthrop Maine.

Maine Lobster Lobsta.

The Wicked Bean: I went to The Wicked Bean coffee hut in Winthrop Maine. I talked to the owner Dave and told him about some photo in my portfolio about the coffee huts in Eugene Oregon. Dave lived in Eugene for a number of years and moved back to Maine. He said Eugene is where he got the idea for his own coffee hut.
Wicked great coffee here. It must be made with brackish water! They don't have brackish water in Eugene Oregon.

What I learned in Maine, 110807

McNamara: Checked out 'Fog of War' from Lithgow Library. A saw it in the theater it was premiered at (days after the actual premier, in which McNamara himself presided, to give answers to the questions he wished he had been asked. And the director Errol Morris was there for questions too - but i missed all that) in Washington, D.C., while eating and drinking a beer with Jen, my girlfriend at the time, who is now the manager and a co-producer at an independent film production house in Manhattan.
But It's cool to drink a beer and eat something while you learn things (high schools could learn something from this), so I watched it again at home.

What was I thinking? K-Mart doesn't sell eggs! Only last year's candy eggs. But the K-Mart a couple blocks from my house does sell No-GMO Half & Half.

Maine!?

Everytime I turn my head around, and around, and around, another New England church pops up. (And every time I spew pea soup, A priest shows up and ties me to my levitating bed.)

Incredible Geary's: After only 3 of these extraordinary (Portland Maine made) pale ales, I discover the reason for my life. And jot it down for future reference.

110707 Maine Art & Architecture

Survey Says: Development.

Performance Art: I stopped to take a picture when, Chris, a gas station clerk is reloading the over-head cigarette dispenser.
'You got to love it for the art of it,' said Chris as I snapped the shutter.
'It is like art. Performance art,' I said thinking of smokers. The spending of unnecessary money on unnecessary crops (even the farmers are performers), and blowing smoke from their faces like Chinese dragons. 'Extreme performance art, people killing themselves over a number of years.'
'It's a tragedy,' said Chris, possibly alluding to Shakespeare.

I read in an AP article, that in their latest effort to help kick the mass habit, scientists have been testing a vaccine, NicVAX.
'There's merit in it,' said lead researcher, Dr. Stephen Rennard of the University of Nebraska.
One of Rennard's compatriots, Director of Medications Development at the National Institute on Drug Abuse Dr. Frank Vocci, represents an organization that has given $8 million for research so far.
Said Vocci, 'It clearly shows promise.'

A lost art.

Maineland Election Day

The rain in Maine
falls Maine-ly on my head
until I get in my truck
then I realize it is falling on my windshield
then I realize I should get new wipers
(then I realize everyone elected for new windshield wipers)
then I realize the compost pile in the bed of my truck is coming along nicely

The rain in Maine falls and falls and falls and falls
on state election day
it is a beautiful Maine day
even with a slightly sore throat
we voted down a library expansion
and a Native American casino

The rain in Maine is falling so hard
when I leave the Maine State Library Museum Archive
that I can't see straight
'Ahoy. Is the parking over here?! The whole lot?'
I followed a lobsterman, a clamdigger, a Mainer
out of the sea of rain and past the waves
the Subaru waves
by the time we got to the open lot
only me and the lobsterman remained

The rain in Maine
drops/keeps falling on my head
my eyes are flailing through the sea of cars
automos, automos, everywhere. None of them mine.
I can't get a reading on my truck.
Can't see the horizon or the sun.
the stars blotted out by ... parking lot lighting!

MAINE!?

(curse and bless you)

Maine Modes of Transit

KV CAP, or Kennebec Valley Community Action Program (a nonprofit organization) is the public transportation around Augusta Maine. A pretty active public transit system for such a small place.

Backhoes are another way to get around Maine's developing territory.

'Dodging Skunks' or nighttime walking is another way to get around in Maine.
